Lizzy Gardner: The Woman Who Obsessed Over Death and Murder
Lizzy Gardner was born in 1857 in Vermont. She was the youngest of five children, and her family was poor. Her father was a farmer, and her mother was a devout Christian. Lizzy was a shy and introverted child, and she often felt like an outsider. She was bullied by her classmates, and she had few friends.

When Lizzy was 16 years old, her father died. This event had a profound impact on her, and she became increasingly withdrawn and depressed. She began to spend more and more time alone, and she developed an unhealthy interest in death and murder. She would spend hours reading about serial killers and attending autopsies.
In 1881, Lizzy moved to Chicago. She got a job as a nurse, and she continued to indulge her obsession with death. She would often visit the morgue, and she would sometimes take body parts home with her. She also began to experiment with taxidermy, and she would often preserve the bodies of animals that she found.
In 1887, Lizzy met Herman Mudgett, a charming and manipulative man who would later become known as H.H. Holmes. Holmes was a con artist and a serial killer, and he quickly recognized Lizzy's obsession with death. He began to groom her, and he eventually convinced her to help him with his crimes.
Lizzy helped Holmes to lure victims to his "Murder Castle" in Englewood, Illinois. She would often befriend the victims and gain their trust. Once they were in the castle, Holmes would kill them and dispose of their bodies. Lizzy would often help Holmes to clean up the crime scenes, and she would sometimes even participate in the murders.
In 1894, Holmes was arrested and charged with murder. Lizzy was also arrested, and she was charged with being an accessory to murder. She was convicted and sentenced to life in prison. She died in prison in 1924.
Lizzy Gardner's case is a fascinating and disturbing look into the mind of a serial killer. She was a complex and troubled woman who was driven by an unhealthy obsession with death and murder. Her case is a reminder that even the most seemingly ordinary people can be capable of terrible crimes.
