First Drop Charlie Fox was a legendary British fighter pilot who served in the Royal Flying Corps during World War I. He was known for his exceptional aerial combat skills and his daring exploits, which earned him the admiration of both his comrades and his enemies.

Fox was born in London in 1894. He joined the Royal Flying Corps in 1916 and quickly rose through the ranks, becoming one of the most successful fighter pilots of the war.

Fox flew a variety of aircraft during his career, but he was best known for his Sopwith Camel. He was a master of aerial combat and was credited with shooting down 23 enemy aircraft.

Fox's most famous exploit occurred on April 21, 1918, when he single-handedly engaged a formation of six German Fokker Dr.Is. He shot down two of the German aircraft and forced the others to retreat.

Fox's victory over the Fokker Dr.Is earned him the respect of the enemy. The German ace Manfred von Richthofen, known as the "Red Baron," is said to have remarked, "That Englishman is the bravest man I have ever met."

Fox continued to fly throughout the war, and he was eventually promoted to the rank of captain. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Military Cross for his bravery and skill.

After the war, Fox returned to England and became a successful businessman. He died in 1976 at the age of 82.
